Shayla Black is celebrating the release of Lara Adrian's newest book "Ashes of Midnight" at her blog. It's hot off the presses and out on the book store shelves today. Congrats Lara! Here's the blurb from the back of the book...
"A woman driven by blood. A man thirsting for vengeance. A place where darkness and desire meet . . .
As night falls, Claire Roth flees, driven from her home by a fiery threat that seems to come from hell itself. Then, from out of the flames and ash, a vampire warrior emerges. He is Andreas Reichen, her onetime lover, now a stranger consumed by vengeance. Caught in the cross fire, Claire cannot escape his savage fury–or the hunger that plunges her into his world of eternal darkness and unending pleasure.
Nothing will stop Andreas from destroying the vampire responsible for slaughtering his Breed brethren . . . even if he must use his former lover as a pawn in his deadly mission. Blood-bonded to his treacherous adversary, Claire can lead Andreas to the enemy he seeks, but it is a journey fraught with danger–and deep, unbidden desires. For Claire is the one woman Andreas should not crave, and the only one he’s ever loved. A dangerous seduction begins–one that blurs the line between predator and prey, and stokes the flames of a white-hot passion that may consume all in its path. . . . "

I mentioned in my post two weeks ago that soon I'd be running contests on my blog. Bet you thought I'd forgotten about those, didn't you? ;-). Well, never fear, free things are finally here! Today marks the start of the first of five contests I'll be running from now until June 13th. Why until June 13th? Because that's my birthday, so consider these contests an early birthday celebration from me to you!
So, without further ado, here's Contest Number One...
I've mentioned before that I'm a big fan of Vicki Pettersson's, and she happens to be an awesome person in addition to being a kick ass author. Well, Vicki's fourth book in the Sign of the Zodiac series, CITY OF SOULS, comes out June 30th, but one lucky reader won't have to wait that long. Vicki has kindly offered to ship a signed, Advanced Reading Copy of CITY OF SOULS to whoever wins my contest. Yes, Vicki will ship internationally.
Before we get to details, want a little info on CITY OF SOULS? Here's the summary from the back cover:
"In Sin City, a little girl suffers from a strange and terrible malady. If she dies, the Light will die along with her.
Warrior, avenger, Joanna Archer has survived countless otherworldly terrors—and has found her rightful place among the agents battling the all-pervasive evil of Shadow . . . even as she struggles against the darkness within herself.
A war is raging for Las Vegas—a city without a heart—one that catapults Joanna into a new world hidden from mortal sight. In this lethally seductive alternate dimension the lines blur between good and evil, love and hate, and here lies the last hope for the Light. But Joanna's price of admission is a piece of her own soul—and the odds of her escaping are slim . . . to none."
And now, the rules. They're easy. Email me at frostlight1 AT yahoo DOT com with the subject line of Contest 1, and I will enter you into the contest. Winner will be chosen by randomizer. If you want to increase your chances for winning, mention this contest on your blog and in your email to me, make sure you include the link where you blogged about it. Everyone who blogs and emails me the link will get their entry counted twice.
Contest starts now and will close Friday, May 22nd, at 11:59 pm, EDT. Good luck!

Comment below and tell me your own three picks for Scariest, Sexiest and Funniest vampire. It can be in books, movies or TV shows. And who knows, I may even throw in a prize to a lucky person who comments (and leaves an email too please so I can get in touch. Thanks).

Curious about the book? Here's the blurb from the back of the book...
"Loup Garron was born and raised in Santa Olivia, an isolated, disenfranchised town next to a US military base inside a DMZ buffer zone between Texas and Mexico. A fugitive "Wolf-Man" who had a love affair with a local woman, Loup's father was one of a group of men genetically-manipulated and used by the US government as a weapon. The "Wolf-Men" were engineered to have superhuman strength, speed, sensory capability, stamina, and a total lack of fear, and Loup, named for and sharing her father's wolf-like qualities, is marked as an outsider.
After her mother dies, Loup goes to live among the misfit orphans at the parish church, where they seethe from the injustices visited upon the locals by the soldiers. Eventually, the orphans find an outlet for their frustrations: They form a vigilante group to support Loup Garron who, costumed as their patron saint, Santa Olivia, uses her special abilities to avenge the town."

"Her job description is the “tracking and apprehension of mentally-fractured killers.” What this really means in FBI profiler Jace Valchek’s brave new world—one in which only one percent of the population is human—is that a woman’s work is never done. And real is getting stranger every day…
Jace has been ripped from her reality by David Cassius, the vampire head of the NSA. He knows that she’s the best there in the business, and David needs her help in solving a series of gruesome murders of vampires and werewolves. David’s world—one that also includes lycanthropes and golems—is one with little knowledge of mental illness. An insane serial killer is a threat the NSA has no experience with. But Jace does. Stranded in a reality where Bela Lugosi is a bigger box office draw than Bruce Willis and every full moon is Mardi Gras, Jace must now hunt down a fellow human before he brings the entire planet to the brink of madness. Or she may never see her own world again… "
