Wrapping up January

Hello all, I've missed most of this month online and for that I apologise. Things happen in life though. Lots of things I certainly didn't plan like having my internet connection go out on me, etc. But thankfully I am back on track. Now for some contests and freebies...

Harlequin celebrates it's 60th Anniversary this year. Congraulations Harlequin and all the wonderful authors published under Harlequin's many genre's and series of books! And it definitely makes for a fun celebration with Harlequin giving away free ebooks. Just go to Harlequin's website and they have a great selection of books for you to chose from for a free download. And not only that but you can not only download one book but all the books! And I'd definitely keep checking the site after this first visit as well because Harlequin has hinted that the celebration is not over yet so there will be more freebies and fun to come through the year.

Are you an expert of some thing or another? Like to give tips to others and share what you know? Well then, writing a Knol is right up your alley. What is a Knol you ask? It's an authoritative article about a specific topic. Basically a how-to written article. And right now if you write your own Knol, on any subject, you could be one of 5 finalists featured on Dummies.com, or even the grand prize winner who'll receive a cash prize of $1,000. That's right, simply share a short how-to on anything and your entered to win. Just visit the Google/Knol/Dummies website for details and then start writing. Good luck!

Evangeline Anderson Giveaway and Free Read

A Message from Evangeline Anderson...

Hi guys,

Don't you always feel kinda blah when the holidays are all over and you have to get back to the usual routine? After the excitement of Christmas and New Years (even with the scary economy this year) it's still hard to take down the holiday decorations and put your nose to the grindstone. Well never fear, I have a solution--my Free Novel Contest to end your boredom.

Here's how it works--during Christmas a good blogging friend of mine pointed out that lots of people are strapped for cash and can't afford to buy books from their favorite authors. So I decided to post a free, never-before- read plus length novel at my site for all my readers.

Every week I'm adding another two chapters after which I will post a single question. All you have to do to play is read the chapters and answer the question in the comments section under the post. Every time you post a correct answer, you'll be entered in a drawing for a free e-book. Right now I have four chapters posted so there are two questions to answer. That means that everyone who plays automatically has two chances to win right off the bat. Pretty neat, huh?

So come to my site www.evangelineanderson.com and click on the link at the top right of the page that says Blind Date with a Vampire--free read from Evangeline. It's a win-win situation--you get to read a free novel and get a chance to win another free e-book from me at the end of the week (this Friday to be exact.)I will announce all winners on my blog.

Hugs and happy post holidays to all of you!
Evangeline Anderson

Nalini Singh is Giving Away Some Angels' Blood

From the desk of Nalini Singh....

ANGELS' BLOOD releases March 3, 2009, and to celebrate the release, I'm giving away some advanced copies of the book. These will be in the form of bound galleys - identical to an ARC in terms of content, just put together in a different way.

Here are the rules for the contest:

1. One entry per household.

2. Since the purpose of an advanced copy is to get the word out about a book prior to its release, if you win one, please review / talk about / discuss ANGELS' BLOOD somewhere during February 2009. You can review it online, talk about it to your book group, tell your friends…the field’s wide open. What you say is, of course, totally up to you!

3. By entering, you give me permission to announce your name in my newsletter and on my blogs should you win. (I usually stick to first names and initials).

Details on how to Enter

4. Email me at nalinisinghwrites(AT)gmail(DOT)com by January 15th, 2009 (Midnight, PST), with:

a. "AB Advanced Copy Contest" in the Subject line
b. Your name and postal address
c. The place(s) where you intend to talk about / review / discuss the book etc

5. Winners will be notified by email (so please make sure my email is on your “safe” list).

Good luck!!

Happy New Years!

******* Also, congrats to GypsyWitch, Valorie and Deidre who won in my contest. I got very sick and wasn't able to get online until now to announce winners. Sorry about that. From here on out I'll keep everyone updated about whats happening if I'm going to be late in blogging. Thanks for your patience. *******

A Poetic Contest From Vicki Lewis Thompson

Win ARC from Vicki Lewis Thompson!

I'm in possession of Advance Reading Copies (ARCs) of CASUAL HEX, the third book in the hex series. It won't hit the shelves until March 3, but I'm giving away three copies, so you can have a sneak preview! To enter, write and vltnews(AT)vickilewisthompson(DOT)com a poem about George the Dragon (or, if you're so inclined, from George) by midnight on January 14th. The poems can be as short as four lines, but no longer than twelve lines, and ALL poems will qualify for the three prizes. You don't have to be Shakespeare, or even Dr. Seuss. Here's an example:
Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
I can write poems
And so can you!
